Puchong, 2 April 2024 – ALR today launched its Student Food Aid Programme for four (4) schools in collaboration with the MyKasih Foundation. ALR has allocated a total of RM216,000.00 to the one-year programme, which will benefit 200 students from low-income families across two (2) primary schools and (2) secondary schools along the alignment of ALR’s highways.

The four schools are Sekolah Kebangsaan Asli Bukit Kemandol, Bandar Saujana Putra, Jenjarom (KESAS Highway), Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil Castlefield Puchong (LITRAK Highway), Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Pantai, Kerinchi (SPRINT Highway) and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (P) Pudu (SMART Highway).

Under the Student Food Aid Programme, one hundred (100) primary school students and one hundred (100) secondary school students from low-income families, will each receive a monthly allowance of RM80 and RM100 respectively, and the contributions will be administered and distributed through the MyKasih Foundation for a period of one year from March 2024 to February 2025.

Through its collaboration with the MyKasih Foundation, the monthly allowance will be deposited to the students’ MyKad or their MyKasih student smartcard via the MyKasih system. This will then allow the students to draw on the allowances by using their MyKad or MyKasih student smartcard to make cashless payments for purchases made at the school canteen and bookshop.

The Student Food Aid Programme is in line with ALR’s Sustainability Sukuk Framework, where ALR has made a commitment to Socioeconomic Advancement and Empowerment. The Programme is further aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (“UNSDGs”) number 2, Zero Hunger and number 4, Quality Education.

ALR Group Chief Executive Officer, Sazally Saidi said, “Through this Student Food Aid Programme, the students will no longer need to worry about daily school meals and learning essentials and can therefore focus on their studies. This should also help alleviate some of their families’ financial burden and help them stay in school.”

He further added, “This programme is a natural extension of ALR’s social impact purpose and value proposition. Beyond the savings derived from ALR’s unique not-for-profit business model for motorists and the Government – it is our aim to continue positively impacting the communities in which we operate, through programmes such as this. We hope to be able to embark on more similar programmes in the future.”
